Gender at Work is actively advancing the theoretical foundations on gender equality and has started engaging with several universities and international organizations of repute, helping them enhance their capacities to promote research, review curriculum and offer new courses on gender equality.
Gender at Work has been collaborating with The School of Global Studies at the University of Sussex to offer a 2-week week intensive course, “Doing Gender – Approaches and Tools for the World of Work”, for Masters level gender and development students. The course is designed as a complement to classroom training, and geared toward students who will soon be taking up jobs working on gender and development issues in a wide variety of organizations across the world. We offer capacity building services (training, learning and strategic planning workshops) to enhance gender equality and inclusion in organizations and their work. For example, Gender at Work’s partnership with UN Girls Education Initiative (UNGEI) has spanned a variety of strategies to enhance collaborative action and learning. We have facilitated annual strategic planning for the members of their Global Advisory Committee; collaborated with UNGEI, PLAN International and the Global Partnership for Education on the design and delivery of capacity development convenings to strengthen the gender equality dimensions in Education Sector Plans; and we are carrying out a joint initiative with Education International to support teacher’s unions in ending school-related gender-based violence.
